Why?
One of my weaknesses in Japanese culture is flattery.
It's a conversational technique to make the situation smoother, but I'm not very good at it.
It may sound childish, but I don't understand what it means to say something you don't really mean.
It makes me look like a fool if I take it as is...
It's sad.
If everyone were to say things straightforwardly, the supposedly reserved Japanese people would collapse.
But I recognize that this is a group of people who don't want to take the brunt of it and don't have a will of their own.
It is often said these days that the Japanese are a lonely people.
I believe this is because they are concerned only about appearances and have few friends with whom they can express their true feelings.
I wonder if we really need people with such a superficial relationship.
As long as there is no open exchange of opinions, meaningless meetings will continue, the race-baiting order of the world (whether it is good or bad) will not disappear, and the inefficient and bad culture will never disappear from Japan.
